Happy Cat is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization in Suffolk County, Long Island, New York with the mission to rescue the region’s most at-risk cats from abuse, cruelty, neglect, illness, and euthanasia.
Over 300 cats live healthy, happy lives inside the indoor/outdoor, free-roaming, cage-free sanctuary, with full access to medical and veterinary care, meals, regular brushing, treats, trees to climb, and lots of love. All cats are neutered. Cats and kittens are available for adoption.
Happy Cat specializes in rescuing cats and kittens that have been the victims of hoarding, poisonings, shootings, and other abuses. We have saved dozens of cats targeted by gangs who try to trap them for use as bait in dog fighting rings, cats hoarded in filthy condemned houses, and cats that were abandoned because they were not considered the “perfect pets” because of their disabilities.
We work tirelessly to combat animal cruelty and neglect with the aid of individual donors, grants, and dedicated volunteers. Cats in our sanctuary are available to adopt, and we work to reduce New York’s feral population using Trap-Neuter-Release methods.
About Chris Arsenault
Chris has dedicated his life to the rescue and care of hundreds of cats. Chris started rescuing in 2006 after his 24-year-old son Eric lost his life in a tragic accident when the throttle on his motorcycle stuck. After this devastating loss, Chris accidentally came across a cat colony of 30 sick kittens. He removed the kittens from the colony and nursed them back to health. It was at that point that Chris knew saving cats was his calling, and he opened Happy Cat Sanctuary
Happy Cat Sanctuary of Long Island, NY specializes in the rescue of cats and kittens from abuse, hoarding, and neglect. Donate today to save a cat's life!
